Apply by hand on a manual board

The copy screen shows your answers in the same order as the job site's form. How to use it, and how to add the job to your tracker afterwards.

Most jobs need a person to apply in a browser. That is how employers set things up, not a limit of Involve. On those jobs, we help you turn twenty minutes of work into five.

The copy-out screen

Open Applications in the menu on the left, then Fill a form by hand, with the posting attached.

It shows everything the application needs, in the same order as that job site's form: contact details, work history, answers you wrote before, and your tailored resume ready to attach. You copy and paste down the page, in the order the form asks.

The order matters more than you might think. When people copy from a document in a different order, they paste the wrong thing into the wrong box.

Steps

1. Open the posting and tailor for it as normal.
2. Approve the changes and let the document build.
3. Open the copy-out screen.
4. Download the document, so the upload dialog has something to point at.
5. Open the employer's form in another tab.
6. Paste field by field, in the order the screen lists them.
7. Answer everything about work authorisation, visa status, citizenship or identity yourself. Those are never filled for you anywhere in this product.
8. Submit on their form.
9. Add the row to the tracker.

Job sites where you apply this way

Any job site our tools cannot fill in, plus every site we refuse to automate: LinkedIn, which we never automate; Indeed, which does not allow it; and Workday, SuccessFactors, iCIMS and Taleo, where you need your own login from the employer.

Getting it onto the tracker

We cannot record this for you, because you sent it yourself.

Open the tracker and add the job. A role, a company or a link is enough. Everything else is optional. Set the stage to Applied and the date to today, and note which document you sent.

That last field is the one you will want in three weeks when somebody calls and you cannot remember which version they are holding.

The answers are reusable

When you answer a form question once, we keep it and offer it the next time a form asks the same thing. Your first ten applications by hand are slow. The eleventh is much faster. That is why it pays to do the first ones carefully.
