When the extension looks blank
Nine reasons the extension looks dead on a page, how to tell them apart in one glance, and the fix for each one.
The extension draws a blank in several different situations, and they are not the same problem. Match what you see to the row.
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No marks at all on a browser settings page | Extensions cannot run on the browser's own pages | Open the application form itself first |
| No badge and no number on a posting | The reader found no job description it understood | Press Tailor this page in Involve and paste it there |
| Fill button greyed out | Either the page cannot be filled, or the plan does not cover it | Hover it. The title says which of the two |
| "No data was read from this page" | You declined the site permission | Press the button again and accept the dialog |
| "No resume stored yet" | The extension never got a copy of your resume | Open Involve, sign in and add your resume |
| "Sign in at Involve" | Your sign-in ran out, or you signed out | Sign in on the website. The extension notices |
| "Checked earlier, no connection now" | The plan check could not reach the server | No action needed. The last positive answer stands for a day |
| A red line about LinkedIn | LinkedIn is blocked, so the extension never runs there | Apply on that site yourself, as a person |
| A queue that staged files and then stopped | The queue had no permission for those sites | Press start again. It asks for every queued site in that click |
The two worth understanding
No score on a posting. No posting is scored off a title. Where the page does not carry a job description the reader recognises, it draws a blank rather than putting a confident number on a page it did not read. A careers index, a login wall and a search results page all land here, and all three are correct.
A queue that prepared files and stopped. Chrome only gives permission for a site when you click. A run that started without asking left tailored resumes in your downloads folder and never reached the form. Now the start button asks for every site in the queue in the same click. If a permission is missing, we tell you plainly.
Checks that fix most of the rest
- Is the extension enabled at all? Open the browser's extensions page and look.
- Is the site granted? Same page, under the extension's site access.
- Does the popup's account block show your plan, or a refusal? A refusal names what to do.
- Does the resume section show when it last synced? If not, open Involve, sign in and add your resume again.
- Is this a form, or a listing? The fill button works on the application form.
When it is the page and not the extension
Some employers show the form inside a box loaded from another website, and some only show it after you log in. Neither can be filled in from outside. Use the copy screen, which shows your answers in the same order as that site's form, ready to paste: apply by hand on a manual board.
For faults elsewhere in the product, the troubleshooting index covers symptom, cause and fix in one table.
Questions about this
The extension worked yesterday and does not respond today.
Check the account block at the top of the popup first. An expired session is the most common cause, and signing in on the website fixes it without touching the extension.
Why is there no badge on a careers index page?
The reader found no single job description to read. Open one posting rather than the list of them.
The queue staged files and never filled anything.
It had no permission for those sites. Press start again and accept the dialog, which asks for every queued site in that one click.
Can it work on a page saved as a PDF or in a browser settings tab?
No. Extensions cannot run on the browser's own pages, and a PDF is not a form.
Start at the top of the popup
The account block answers half of these on its own, and it is the first thing on the screen for that reason.
